I think generally people like to help others, but mainly if there is a reward for themselves. The reward can be anything but I believe people like the good feelings they get when they help another person. It not only benefits the person being helped but the "helper" as well. I don't think there is anything such as giving and not receiving because you are receiving something every time you give something, such as assistance. You receive the good feeling associated with giving to another.

Yes and No. There are people I like or in need and there are people that under appreciate others. Taking advantage of weaknesses and as far as I'm concerned jerks.
Why, it feels good to help and it gets me out side of my head.

Yeah, that's why I teach. I can't really explain it. It just feels right. And when I'm not doing something that at least helps someone, I feel like I'm not doing what I'm "supposed" to be doing.
It may be upbringing, or something more innate, like what we might call a soul. I try not to dwell on it, though-- just keep doing right, you know?

I like helping where I can, I have never liked stingy people, but I don't like it when people expect a hand out.

I do! Because it makes me feel useful and like a hero. There people who do not like to give a hand for many reasons: they are afraid to not succeed, selfish, laziness, too shy too many to write them all.
