If players don't kick the ball out every time a player roles around on the turf, and got with the game perhaps it might lessen the diving. Its FIFA fair play but its wrecking th game.

Might be an idea, but I think that if actually FIFA starts giving instructions to the referees to send off divers and actors, and suspend them for at least two games, these things will happen anyway

No. Kicking the ball out when someone is genuinely hurt is definitely the way to play...

The refs need to just have some guts and start carding people for diving. I love Thierry Henry. He is such a good player, but that dive has turned me right off him, the same for C. Ronaldo. In reality though, both these guys are simply playing by the whistle... which is what you are coached to do. You can be sure though that as soon as they start getting Red cards for it, the Managers will change that !

For mine, diving has no part in the game and players who dive should get Red cards, but you need a fourth official with video review to officiate. I reckon that's what the game needs to bring it into the 21st century.

With regard to the miraculous recoveries that we so often see... perhaps in the interests of player health & safety anyone who must leave the pitch for attention should be required to spend a mandatory 10 minutes being assessed. The Manager can then make the call to either sub him or to play down a man for 10 minutes... the stretchers would become much rarer then !

it's FIFA's instruction to officials NOT to penalise dives with yellow cards that has caused the increase in diving in this tournament (most notably amongst hispanic/latino teams).

I agree with them in one respect - unwarranted diving is cheating & therefore they SHOULDN'T get a yellow card - they should get a RED card. FIFA made a big issue of fair play in this tournament so it is scandalous that this is allowed to go on - it needs to be completely stamped out as it is destroying the game.

If it's proven AFTER the game (ie: a replay shows there was no significant contact), the diver's team should recieve a truly crippling fine, or even a 4 year disqualification from international football.

This might sound harsh - penalising a team for one player's actions, but to ensure fair play, the team managers need to be held responsible for discipline within their team.

If players who fall down are not attended to quickly how would we know if the injury is a serious one.Perhaps had the ball been kicked out earlier a more serious damage would have been avoided. To stop diving players must be seriously punished by either being fined or shown the red card.

No because you will always get teams like Portugal under Scolari who have no concept of the meaning "Fair Play" as was seen in the world cup. Their antics brought the game into disrepute and the only way to stop it would be to hit them where it hurts, by banning them from competitions. Children emulate their heroes in the schoolyard and just like the Eric Cantona incident where he Kung-Fu kicked a fan, children will be copying the antics of them.
Players like Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) get paid huge ammounts of money for what they do and as such have a responsibility to set an example both on and off the pitch.
These silly antics harm the beautiful game.
In rugby, a far more physical sport incidents of the diving and "prima donna" actics would not be tolerated.
Sportsmanship should uphold the word "Sport" not demean it !!!

The injuries are not always minor, and after the first time play continued, with a player seriously injured, there would be a great outcry, and it would change back, players ahve ben known to swallow their tongue after a collision, this is lifel-threatening, and although a ref may allow play to continue fro a very minor injury he has to stop it immediately if there is a possibility of a head injury. How would people react if there was a collision, appeared to be a dive, play continued, and by the time they got back to the player, he was dead!?.

Yes. They should go back and watch tapes of the game and ban/fine them retrospectively.
