Go to the Chicago Chop House for LUNCH only, dinner would be expensive. Lunch is reasonable and its the absolute best steak you'll ever eat. (And its only about 2 blocks from Michigan Ave)

Find a small Indian restaurant that has a buffert. There are a couple on Belmont Ave. between Clark Street and Racine. Most of them have all-you-can-eat buffets for about $8 bucks. Great food most of the time and cheap. It's a good chance to try something different and not be out a lot of $$$ if you don't like it.

Or you could go to Buca de Beppo on Clark street just north of Diversey. It's inexpensive because two or even three people could dine on what they call a "serving for one". Pizza slices as big as your head, plates of pasta that are overflowing. Get a couple of friends and split one plate of pasta. You will all be full and still have money in your pockets. And the decor is old Italian funky.

Devon avenue is perhaps the most ethnic street for a while I suggest driving down it and picking a good place. But otherwise I think this question is really tough it would be great if you could be more specific about where you're located and what kind of restaurant you 'd like to go to.

I don't remember it being too expensive...and it is a lot of fun for sports fans...check out the ESPN zone there. It's worth your time. If you get a chance....check out the question some guy asked about why Fenway is the worst park in baseball. Why can't Yankees fans be as humble as us?
