Why can't I wear my slippers out-doors without inviting ridicule? I particularly like the old-fashioned variety, especially those made of corduroy or wool. They are very comfy and cheap and I think they look great! At present, I have a pair of corduroy slip-on shoes which I wear to work at the office. Not quite carpet slippers, but I hope to soon! Does anyone else like wearing their slippers outside or to work?

No-one can say anything about how you dress etc. Its YOUR life and YOU can do whatever you want with it!!

Its not ridiculous, its in fact perfectly smart if your comfortable with your slippers!!

Anyone giving you 'dirty' looks shoot one back at them

Pro-They are comfortable.
Con-They look tacky.
They offer no support for the foot at all.
They offer little protection from mud, dog poop, and other unsavory substances that unfortunately grace the sidewalk.
Comment:
They say, whichever has the majority of listings in a Pro and Con list, wins. However, since you might HAVE to wear slippers to some kind of infirmity, or handicap you might like to know that many people wear attractive and comfortable shoes to and from work, but change to slipper type shoes while at work, You might try that.
Question of my own:
How old are you, and why do you THINK they look acceptable for a place of business, or even for outside wear?

I don't know about you but it was hilarous when my mum got out of the car when we went to my nans house and she got out with one shoe on and one slipper. To make it worse the slipper was one of those really fluffy bright slippers. If you do this you will look senile. Forget slippers my nan has some really comfortable shoes that are soft and they still look like shoes. Soon all jy family was wearing them even though they were kind of naff.

You would be suprised how many people come to class at my university in their pj's and big fuzzy slippers. I don't understand why you don't get up and get dressed in the morning, but whatever, if slippers is what you want to wear then go for it.

I think it is a tad over the top to wear them in public unless you have a condition that does not allow you to wear shoes. Around the office or in the garden then yes its fine, but in PUBLIC.....ummmm a bit unusual. You can get plenty of shoes nowadays that are just as comfortable

If you are British, it's fine - people will simply think you are eccentric. Should you be American, however, you may find that you are in need of therapy!! lol! I wore mine to the garage to get petrol once - simply forgot I was wearing them. No-one noticed!!!!!!!! Maybe we should start a slipper appreciation society?!!
