I saw most of the bollywood stars, facing the TV camera,they do not reply in Hindi but they reply in English.The interviwer or the reporter keeps on asking in Hindi and being a HIndi Films stars ,they prefer to reply in English.Their fame is only because of hindi songs, diologues and stories aand viewer wants to see them taalking in hindi.

The reality is that they are not habitual of speaking Hindi. The are grown up in a society or culture where English is the primary language,not Hindi. Most of the Bollywood stars
got there education in foreign countries. In addition to that they speak in English only, at home and society from there birth.
It is not their "Show-Off" but inability which they express in such a way to impress people knowing that they can interact more closely with the people if they speak in Hindi.
Look Amitabh Bachchan, who speak very good Hindi and observe his family background from his childhood. There are several stars who speak good Hindi even during interviews.

Some stars do speak in English, but I notice that often others such as Rani Mukherjee answer in Hindi. Still, they want to appeal to other people too when they speak in English. I mean, then international reporters wouldn't have to translate what they're saying and so they're more likely to use their interview. For instance, Shah Rukh Khan speaks in English a lot to reporters; often, he's in some place other than India when he does that. Still, even when he's in India, reporters from all over are asking him questions. Indeed, he does sometimes use Hindi too. One day, he and others won't have to use English ever again.

They feel that this will show them above the general mass, which at times is humiliating. However that is not the case with old stars, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Dharmendra still talk in Hindi

i don't think most of them even know Hindi well....they can speak hindi dialogues coz they r given scripts and at interviews they r not given any script.........Hav u seen The Manish Mallhotra Show on ZOOM ,there was one episode in which the actors were to give interview in hindi and most of them were like so scared.......Another reason is that may be they want to show to the media persons that they we can speak english and u can't but they don't know that one should answer the question in the language they r asked ,this shows their manners

I wondered the same thing to myself when I first came to New Delhi. What I have discovered is that many people of a particular social status in Mumbai, and even in New Delhi, speak English more often than not. It has more to do with their environment and the people in it, I think.

hey, im indian just like you, just wanting to point that out. but anyway, i think its because some indian people dont know hindi and they watch movies with the subtitles. but they still like the actors. there are many people in america that like hindi movies but dont know the language. so the actors are talking in a way that most people will understand. thats my opinion.

They can reach a larger industry (i.e. Hollywood) audience by speaking English and therefore promote their careers into other potential areas that have a larger budget. Money talks.

Actually indians are in inferiorty complex.
They think they are backward and outdate as a prove loo kat heir movies and music videos, they are showing girls wearning bra and panties an nothing else and on road they hanging out with boy friends same in schools
But in real i never saw any indain like this?
Indian LACK confidence in themselves.
