First why do you want to replace the plywood. Is it rotten, mildewed, or just ugly?

What are you going to put in its place? More plywood? Will you attempt to finish the plywood? Are you going to put down a wooden floor or laminate over the new plywood? Maybe carpet?

You might want to consider just putting the new plywood (maybe even a thinner layer) over the old plywood. That is what I did in our attic before we put down laminate flooring. Leaving the old plywood just made the floor stiffer and was a lot less work.

Unless there is something terribly wrong with the old flooring why not just place the new plywood over the old. It would be stronger, quieter, and hella easier.

Always was for me. Yank up the old and cut, fit and replace the new. Make sure you leave a small gap on the ends and corners to allow for expansion.
