I tried that and they never forget. In the end they sent a cybanetic life form back from the future to hunt me down like a wild dog. He persued me cross country leaving a trial of destruction and death behind him. In the end he cornered me in factory where, handily, they had left a large vat of molten metal on over night. After a long struggle I untied his shoe laces, he tripped over them and he fell into the said vat. I think its safe to do it now as they'd never send another one of those things back

You will have difficulty remortgaging a house for more than its worth as remortgages do not go to 100% let alone over that, what you are asking is can you commit fraud and get away with it, try it and see. good luck

A friend of mine did something similar only on credit cards and then went back packing for 5 years, came home and 'voila'. All debt gone.
Agree with the other answer in that you wont get a mortgage for more than your house is worth! Maybe possibly one of those loans when you are doing up a dump of a house, but thats in phases.
I think you gotta ask the question as in 'Why would you want to do this for a few grand and will it be worth it!'. Why dont you save up instead!!?

No mortgage company is going to allow you to borrow more than your house is worth therefore you're onto a loser here!
Perhaps you could do the same as the rest of us in the uk, work work work and save save save so you can leave the rotten place lol

Apparently if you leave the country for 7 years they will have deleted the debt by the time you return.

only if you stay on this planet!
(how do you plan to take the money? If you are searched and are carrying more than $10,000, you will be arrested as a terror suspect, and get a free vacation at Guantanomo!)
Why not just pay the debt you owe?

finding you is one thing.... collecting the money is another.... If you leave the country and don't tell anyone where you're going and don't leave a paper trail (hard to do) you can pretty much disappear from the creditor.

Yes. If a debt is over £500 then it is feasible to chase someone overseas.
I dont know if anyone would let you re-mortgage your house for more than its worth either!
