Wouldn't this bring down the cost of health care for the un-insured? Would this create more wealth for the health care industry? Would it drive up the cost of insurance for everybody else?

I am not suggesting that the Church foot the bill. The uninsured would be better off purchasing insurance through the Church's group policy than on their own.

I think it is a great idea. They could do it like and place of employment. You're all going to be there on a Sunday right?? So have someone make an announcement.. tell them what they want to do. Someone should be thinking about the uninsured.. and I think that the church is the perfect place to do it.

It sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure how the logistics would work. I guess each church would have to poll their members as far as insurance status goes. Then maybe band together with their national churches. If the church is an independent church with no national affiliation, it might be harder for them to get reasonably priced insurance. Also, there will be people who have insurance through work who won't want to participate. I don't know if it would drive up the cost for everyone else. Usually the larger the pool of people, the cheaper the cost.
