I am heading to Orlando, Fl. this Sunday. We are staying a week. We have purchased tickets for Disney and plan on visiting two parks. We are not sure what we are going to do with the rest of our time. Can anyone recommend other things to do while we are in Orlando that are fun and cheap?

Sure! Here are a few great cheap, or even free things to do in Orlando!

* See the Magic Kingdom Fireworks without paying a dime: how? Wait until about 9:30 pm and drive to the Magic Kingdom. At this time of night, they don't make you pay for parking. In fact, there will be no one at the parking booths. Park anywhere you like and wait for the Ferry Boat. Do not board until about 9:45pm. Get to the 2nd level and walk to the opposite end, closest to the park. From here you will get first class seats for the 10pm fireworks show. When you get to the dock, just hang out where you are and take it back to your car. Cost: FREE

*Visit one of Disney's Water Parks! Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard beach are both a lot of fun. Cost per adult is $34.00. Pack a lunch in a cooler so you don't have to pay for lunch (they do allow coolers in the water parks). You won't want their food anyway. It's not very good. The only thing I would classify as good are the funnel cakes and donuts they sell all over the park.

*Stroll around Downtown Disney Marketplace! The marketplace has tons of shops and fun restaurants to visit. Window shop and don't spend a dime or go crazy and buy whatever you like. The rainforest cafe is located on the far right side of the marketplace and their food and drinks are reasonably priced.

*Drive to Cocoa Beach -- Orlando's Closest Beach. It is only a 45 minute drive from Orlando and is a lot of fun. Crystal clear blue water, a fun beach and blue sky -- you'll be in beach goers paradise. Cost: Free (with the exception of gas money) - pack a lunch here too!

* Kennedy Space Center (located near Cocoa Beach. Cost per entrance ticket are cheap and the experience will last a lifetime!

If you have kids the Orlando Science Center is pretty inexpensive and shows several awesome IMAX movies throughout the day.

If you like the night-life Disney has Downtown Disney / Pleasure Island and Universal/Islands of Adventure has City Walk. BOth are a blast.

Its not too much $$$ but in Downtown Disney there is a place called Disney Quest that is full of virtual reality games.

Daytona Beach and Cocoa Beach are approximately an hour away on the east side. They are an excellent chance to soak up some sun.

In Cocoa Beach / Cape Canaveral you can visit the NASA Space Museum and get info on rockets & the space program. Its is fairly inexpensive and combined with the beach you can make a day trip of it.

There also a TON of outlet shops & malls around Disney area if you like shopping.

Wonder Works is fun, its an interactive science museum and has lots of other fun stuff to do, my kids love it.It is on International drive and you can't miss it because it looks like an upside down building. There is also this place called Old Town which is set up kind of like a fair, with go carts and a Farris wheel and lots of other carnival type rides. There is a row of neat little shops and you can browse in and a couple of bars and restaurants there. It is on hwy 192 in Kissimee not too far from Disney. Of course there is Cocoa Beach or Melbourne Beach (not as crowded) if you have a car and are looking for some fun in the sun. It's been raining everyday here, but not all day, usually in the afternoon and at night. Milena (sp?) Mall, I haven't been there yet but I hear it's huge. Medieval Times in Kissimee is fun. I can't think of anything else right now but e-mail me if you want more and I'll see what I can do.

There is a restaurant called Jungle Jim's. I think if you go on Sundays (might be wrong) the have live animals, such as lions there.
