We are the biggest. We are the most powerful. We have the most money. We have the most freedom. We probably have the most security. We have the most nukes.

Take your pick. No matter whether it's good or bad, others who aren't there & don't have the same don't understand. They think that you're supposed to hate the "biggest guy in the room". That's not always true. However, that's how it will stay.

They're jealous. Whether it be in the normal "I wish I had that" sort of way, or the "they are too free, they must know what oppression is like" kind of way.

In some ways, it's good jealousy. Countries have seen what we have, and changed to be that. In others, the countries won't get off their high horse and accept we're different.

We DO upset people sometimes, and that's why people hate us; I'll admit that. But we're not a bully...not yet, at least.

America is mostly a country of the unbelievably stupid, naive and ignorant.

However, it has become rich and powerful because of a land rich in natural resources (taken with much bloodshed from the natives) and because of a small minority of brilliant scientists and intellectuals who are held in contempt by the majority who take advantage of their achievements.

America has been so provably wrong on so many issues it is absurd and they are too stupid to see it.

1. They now talk about solving the problems of the Middle East after voting in a president who initially said the rest of the world didn't matter to Americans (and wanted to pull out of the Palestinian/Israeli peace process- the Palestinian situation being a prime recruiting sergeant for terrorists)

2. They ignored the rest of the world who warned that they should take stock and plan before invading Iraq (and many of these supported eventual military action.

3. They said they don't believe in Global Warming (the fact that they would ignore their own Academy of Science shows how anti-intellectual they are).

Of course many want to become American-its like the kid at school who toadies to the school bully hoping for protection

There are a lot of things that people love about america. The culture, food, opportunity etc But the "america is the best country in the world" attitude and trying to impose "American" values on non-American countries comes across as really arrogant and dictatorship-like. However, obviously not all americans are like this.

Each country is fundamentally DIFFERENT and there is no place like home for some people so this philosophy especially when there is so much wrong in the country like crime, millions without health insurance, gun mentality, poverty, etc seems seriously misguided.

Because the current administration has forgotten some of the basic principles of fairness and respect we had in this country. We've been doing too much "on our own" with little input from other countries. Kind of self-righteous approach to governing....and all in the umbrella of 'fighting terrorism'.... this makes us look weak as a country ...not strong!

Simple answer: George Bush.

His policies have tossed long term traditions of US foreign policy and common sense out the window. He's managed to piss off the majority of the world with the US invasion of Iraq, and he's still failed to justify the invasion. (Where are the WMD's and where is Osama bin Laden?)

I could go on, but I want to keep the answer simple.
