There are a bunch, but the three basic ones that are commonly used are physics (study of physical properties, like falling), chemistry (study of atoms and molecules) and biology (study of living things). Beyond that you have a bunch of branches that don't really fit into any of the categories, like geology, astronomy, etc.

PS. if you look at the categories in yahoo answers, and you take out "mathematics" and "other", you basically have the major ones.

This might piss off a lot of people who study Chemisty and Biology

but there is only one branch of Science

Physics

the other sciences are specific applications of physics

The foundation of Chemistry is the interaction between atoms, molecules and ions, which are governed by.....the law of physics

Biology is just an offshoot of chemistry that is specific to living organzims

Therefore Physics Rulez

(I dont need to spell cause I am in Physics)
