I trusted my mom 100% and also knew that no matter what she says, Dad was always aware of what I did. It's natural for parents to bring up children with an understanding. They always decide between them who is gonna be the decision maker. For boys, always Dad is the one and for girls always Mom.

If Dad`s around to ask quickly perhaps otherwise I wouldn`t bother.
