How far back do you want to go:
Carter, Eisenhower, Grant, are all that come to mind. Kennedy served in the Navy in WW2 but did not go to an academy, Trueman served in the Army in WW1 but had such bad eye sight he did not quailfy for the military academies. No one from the air force has made president, Tyler and Polk are the only two I am not sure of. I don't think Tyler did even though he did serve in the Army and was a general, and Polk was in the Mexican war and may have, but not sure. That is about it.
