I'm backing Italy. They have a solid defence and will be tough to break down. I also think Luca Toni is a great player up front. He is sure to cause the french problems

Italy are an impressive unit. Defensively they are the best in the tournament. Cannavaro has underlined that he is the best centre back in the world and Pirlo has been quiet but extremely effective. However, I don't think that Pirlo will be able to boss a midfield which contains both Makelele and Viera. Upfront they lack pace and against Gallas and Thuram [maybe the next two best defenders in the world] they are going to find it difficult.
France on the other hand although never fancied during the entire tournament possess pace, with Henry, Ribery and Malouda and although both Ribery and Malouda are relatively inexperienced internationally they have acquitted themselves well and proven to be extremely effective albeit intermittently.
The key will be whether French pace will overcome the strong but slow Italian defence or Italian creativity, Totti, Del Piero etc. will unlock the quick and solid French defence.
P.S. Sagnol has had a excellent tournament, yet gone completely unnoticed by the media channels.
I think Italy are strong as a unit and probably go into the game as favourites, but I think France are capable of moments of brilliance [never underestimate Zizou]

For the sake of justice France have to beat Italy. Italy are the biggest bunch of cheaters--divers, rollers, etc. It would be unfair that they win on those qualities. Yes, France has had a few dives, but none can compare the the Italian team!

Italy because my boyfriend has them in his work sweepstake and I have France but his sweepstake was more than mine so if Italy win and France lose we get more money than if France won and Italy lost. Plus their goals the other day against Germany in extra time were fantastic!!
