it is in the last stages of installing...it loads windows on the desktop....i tried to reboot to reinstall, but it keeps booting up to the last installation progress. can you help?

Yes you need to have service pack installed atleast 4 for win2000. You can download it free from website and install it http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp4/default.mspx

You need to download service pack 4..the latest for Windows 2000 Pro...
Service Pack 4 Includes all prior service pack bug fixes...

My mom has Windows 2000 Professional for home computer but never saw that. She's planning to upgrade to Windows XP Professional. Probably you can acess help from the Start Menu on another Windows 2000 machine.

You can get it from either Microsoft.com or downloads.com, you should really get it...it cuts down on the spyware
