Ivanhoe Fats came closest to the real answer... Artificial Intelligence or AI is defined as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to confine itself to methods that are biologically observable." It is a field of special study in Computer Sciences, and much advancement has taken place over the decades since it was first proposed in the 1950's. It is often used in gaming... chess games, e.g., can benefit from 'learning', but any game in which a human plays against a computer can use this technology... Combat Flight Simulation in which one flies against computer generated "enemies" is one of my favorite genres using AI.
