No, Saliva does not burn starch. Instead it breaks it down to form carbohydrates due to the presence of an enzyme called Salivary Amylase in the Saliva. That is why starchy food starts to taste sweet if we chew it for a long time.

NO IT CAN NOT!!!
Not saliva diggest the starch, instead of the enzymes inside. The starch is build by two based form. They are the amylose and the amylopectin. The amylose is the non-branched area which is made by the long chain of alpha 1,4 glucose. And the amylopectin means the part that brancged, wich is forming the helix structure in starch. And to break down the amylose needed the enzymes of amylase and both of them needed the ptyalin. That`s all

NO!!!!
Saliva contains an enzyme, PTYALIN. it converts starch to sugar, but does not burn it. Burning is a destructive process. Coversion only aids in digestion and absorption.
