For the past five nights I've been getting these unpleasant and pretty bizaare dreams, does anyone know what the cause could be?

I hardly ever got nightmares before, I don't htink I'm stressed about anything, I haven't got a guilty conscience, and they're all about totally unrelated things (my boyfriends jilts me at the alter, I witness a women kidnapping a baby, I get beaten up by my brother, and the whole world gets a virus and I'm left all on my own) pretty weird things!

there are a few3 things that you could do. first off, you could do your best to forget about the whole thing, and don't even hope it goes away, cus then ur thinking about it. just go out, have some fun, go home, have some popcorn and watch an adam sandler movie, then go to sleep. think about, before you sleep, the fun you had on that day, unless its 12, then its the day before, and just relax, and eventually fall asleep. this could make it go away and never bother you again. now, if the curcumstances change, and you have one of these dreams again, espeacially if ita in order, then you should go see one of those dream interpreters. or, if u want to be like me and not waste ur time and money on that, try to find anything common, such as it all took place in the same town, or same general area, or there were the same people, or espeacially a same person there each time, just sort of there not doing much of anything. or, its possible you are wathching the news too much, and you are seeing things, and getting paranoid about them. if the whole ignore and it goes away thing doesnt work, go see a professional. ill leave it at that. and if u find urself right before u fall asleep hoping u dont have another nightmare, wake urself up, and eat something, or call someone and talk about stupid joey in the park or something.

It can be a combination of the factors already mentioned above. You may have or have had something stressful/traumatic happen in your life recently. It can also be triggered by diet. Try a hot milky drink just before bed (not coffee!). Listen to restful music. If the nightmares persist then you should see your doctor to get professional advice.

Often if you eat shortly before you go to bed you will have nightmares. I think this is mostly a physiological thing, rather than psychological.
