My mom taught me how to be an expert underwater swimmer.
My sister (who is one year younger than I) were taught to swim underwater by our mom.
My mom always tied these 110 pound weights to my ankles because of the age difference she said , it was sort of a handi cap! But I always won the race! I beat my sister all the time and I am still very good!!
The outcome of this 'training' is that I now have very long legs and very thin ankles! But i can swim underwater very good.
My mom has never seemed to apprieciate this and I never get any words of praise, what am I doing wrong??

NO, you aren't doing anything wrong at all. I'm not sure whether your mum should have tied those weights around your legs - that seems a bit unethical and unfair on you and if she attempts to do that again then refuse to let her put them on - it will end up damaging your body long-term. As for the swimming - keep on going with it. If your mum doesn't praise you then that is her fault and hers alone. You know you are good at swimming and if you want to carry on because you feel you can only get better then why stop! If you put your mind to it you could go on to not only win your sister in races but also, win races against other competitive swimmers such as yourself!

Good luck with everything!

Swimming is not at all a bad idea.
Mom might not have appreciated you, since you have better performance than her daughter (your sister) in swimming, which she may not be liking from her depth.
The situation your mother not appreciating or giving a word of praise couln't be concluded as you are doing wrong.
Take everything in its positive course only. All will be well.

Swimming is good, your mum wanted you to be good but you need to explain to her that without praise you loose heart in it.

That her tatic of nort giving you priase to push you will start to back fire, its time to change or it will only hurt you and that will ruin swimming for you
