Trial By Ordeal - a native supreme court where one is punished according to the magnitude of his wrongdoings. In the ancient Philippines, they punished a man slapping one's mother in law by feeding him to the crocodiles and a man who steals must have his hand cut.
Council of Elders - aside from the Datu (village chief), a council of elders is present to help him govern the village. Equivalent to the present-day city councilors.
Survival of the Fittest - in Ancient Philippines, men often engage in war games to win the right to court a girl.
Babaylan - a Visayan priestess during Ancient Philippines
Paganism - Ancient Filipinos worshipped the sun (Araw), moon (Buwan), and stars (Tala). They also worshipped stones, rocks, rivers, trees, and forest.
Bathala - the native god.
Casamaan - equivalent to the Christian tradition of Hell.
Caluwalhatian - Heaven.
Alibata - ancient syllabary (writing system) of Filipinos derived from the Barhmi script of India.
Aliping Namamahay - a slave who belongs to his master and lives with the latter, he can't marry without his master's consent and they shall remain forever slaves (this was stopped, obviously, by the Spanish)
Aliping Sagiguilid - a slave who serves his master during harvest time but he has his own home, can marry without master's consent, and shall be released as a freeman once his master delighted in him, or if he pays the master.
