I'm on a roll ....
As a child I remember a song with the lyrics:

In my room
Way at the end of the hall
I sit and stare at the wall

It was a song that reminds me of the Righteous Brothers, that kind of music. Any genius out there that will make my day? I drive my kids crazy by singing lines from songs they've never heard of.

You people are geniuses - or should that be genii?
Scott Walker sounds like the one. I looked up Righteous Brothers, never thought of Scott Walker, though.
Thanks - you've solved my musical mysteries and made my day.

Scott Walker - In My Room
(J. Prieto)

In my room, way at the end of the hall
I sit and stare at the wall
Thinking how lonesome I've grown, all alone
In my room

In my room, where very night is the same
I play a dangerous game
I keep pretending she's late
So I sit, and I wait

Over there is the picture we took when I made her my bride
Over there is the chair where I held whenever she cried
Over there by the window, the flowers she left - have all died

In my room, way at the end of the hall
I sit and stare at the wall
Thinking how lonely I've grown, all alone
In my room

Artist: Nancy Sinatra Lyrics
Song: In My Room Lyrics

In my room
we're at the end of the harm
I sit and stare at the wall
each day's just like the last
for I lived in the past

In my room
where every night is the same
I play a dangerous game
I keep pretending he's late
And I sit and I wait

All the day is the picture
we took when he made me his bride
All the day is the charm way
he held me whenever I cried
All the day by the window
the flowers he left...

...I won't die!

In my room
we're at the end of the harm
I sit at I stare at the wall
hating how lonely I've growned
all alone
in my room...

The only one I remember with similar lyrics is "In My Room" by Nancy Sinatra. Could that be it?
