Please.

People have been saying that since Biblical times. Back then they advocated stoning kids to death (Deuteronomy 21:18-21).

Back in the 50s people got all worried about the evils of rock and roll etc.

There is nothing wrong with the kids today, other than the fact that thanks to bad politics they live in a society where they do not have automatic access to free health care and a quality education. This is not their fault, this is the fault of the generation that sit around asking what is wrong with the kids of today.

That's a bit of a general question but sadly i do understand what you mean. The word 'chav' springs to mind. It's all about discipline - it all comes down to the way kids are brought up by their parents and quite unfortunately most are brought up without respect or manners because their chav parents let them do whatever they wish without consequence.
Kids don't behave in High School and spend the majority of the time 'wagging it'. The minute they hit 16 they're out of there and leech off their Mum and Dad for various materialistic and useless items such as 'Bling' which in idiotic terms means jewellery. When will the madness end...

society has changed, not for the better...
poor examples to follow...
alot of parents are so comsumed with keeping up with the "Joneses" that they forget what is most important.
lots won't agree but raising children in a truly Christ centered home can make a positive difference.
then there are some kids that will rebel against any authority...God help those parents.

You were saying something?

Or was it the same whine people have been making for centuries?

"Youth today love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority, no respect for older people and talk nonsense when they should work. Young people do not stand up any longer when adults enter the room. They contradict their parents, talk too much in company, guzzle their food, lay their legs on the table and tyrannise their elders."
- Socrates circa. 500 BCE, complaining about the young people in Athens

"This youth is rotten from the bottom of their heart. The young people are malicious and lazy. They will never be as youth was before. Our today’s youth will never be able to maintain our culture."
- Written on clay pots from ancient Babylon circa 1000 BCE

The only people who whine "respect your elders" are old people who haven't earned any respect. If you have earned any, you'll get it, and if you have earned it and don't get it, the people who don't show it aren't worth the effort.

That depends on what you mean by "wrong" and what you mean by "kids." Our current society calls every person a minor until their 18th birthday, which is unprecedented in human culture. Until just the last century, for thousands of years teenagers were considered adults. They raised families, farmed, hunted, ran businesses, fought battles, led armies, and conducted themselves as adults. The line between "child" and "adult" has been raised higher than nature intended in order to conform with the schooling necessary for a person to adapt to our increasingly complicated world. As a consequence, when society calls someone a "kid" they will tend to behave like one. Also we now live in a world of technologic advancement that affords liberties and freedoms never before available to human kind, to which our offspring have unlimited access. One must consider how all of these things shape the behavior of a youngster, and realize that teenagers need to be guided by example more than just rules, and listened to as much as spoken to.

kids don't seem to 'play out' much anymore. When we were kids there used to be hundreds on kids on the streets and parks, whatever the weather. They prefer to sit and play mind numbing console games nowadays instead. I shove mine in the garden at every opportunity! i find the fresh air does them, and me, the world of good, as they are always ready for bed! I find if my son plays on a console for even ten minutes say, he becomes agitated and short tempered. Whatever happened to the youth clubs??? Ours closed down years ago.

Why do you assume there is anything wrong with the kids of today? Older generations, always seem to assume this. Its like ahh when WE were kids etc. etc. I mean there are problems with everyone most of the time. But that is such a general question. Its .........hmmmmmm.

They are too stressed and are forced to grow up too fast. They do not exercise, they do not walk anymore, they are living in a wrong world.
