you need to be taking your folic acid for at least the first 12 weeks. Avoid any heavy lifting/bending/stretching throughout your pregnancy.
There are lots of unexplained reasons for bleeding during pregancy, but the most common reason is miscarriage. To avoid this you should avoid smoking/drinking/heavy lifting but really if it is going to happen then it will happen.
I hope it doesn't. I wish you the best of luck xxx

It seems odd that none of the medical personnel gave you some causes for bleeding during pregnancy. However, I do remember one comment that was widely discussed by my Dr's and in print publications that I read: Many woman actually have a period around (but maybe not at exactly the time of) the time of a normal period, prior to the pregnancy. I remember slight spotting the following month, and that's what they told me. However, spotting and bleeding to the extent that it required hospitalization are two very different things. I would certainly follow up with your OB/GYN or nurse mid-wife, or call and speak to the medical people who cared for you while you were hospitalized. As far as drugs go to stop bleeding, I know that they exist, but must be Rx'd by a treating Dr., and I also thought there were risks involved with those drugs as well. Somebody let you out of there without educating you to the cause, treatment or outcome of your medical situation. Best advice, don't stop making calls and inquiries until someone gives you the answers and appropriate treatment for you and your baby. Take care!

Congrats! I started bleeding while I was just a few wks with my second child, turned out to be just a cervical infection. What did the doctor say the problem was? He/she should have given you instructions, as well, for what to do pervent this happening again. If that didnt happen, yoiu might need to find a new doctor. Just stay off your feet, do as little as possible, which may be hard if you have other children. The only meds I say to take are prenatal vitamins. You can take Tylonol for pain, if needed. Just take it easy until your next OB visit and discuss this with your OB.
I hope you have a safe and happy pregnancy!

Don't do any drugs unless an obstetrician gives them to you.
You don't want to risk the child.
Sometimes women bleed when they are pregnant.
My friends mother had her period throughout her whole pregnancy.
And my sister spotted blood with her third child.
If it happens again, go to the docter and tell them you want the baby checked out.
Sometimes the body can't handle a baby and expells it.
But if that's the case you'll see a chunk of tissue like/bloodclot like blood coming out.
Like I said, if you start bleeding again, do see a doctor. No drugs, unless they're prescribed.

Could be any number of reasons why. The placenta could have come away from the uterus wall slightly, you could be under a bit of stress, anything. If you were hospitalised, chances are, your doctor will keep a close eye on you.
Consult your doctor about drugs but you can take a multi-vitamin, to help you along.
Good luck.

You don't need to take any drugs without consulting your doctor. You probably would be advised to get bed rest and prop your feet up a little. Don't be picking up heavy objects, having rough sex,or doing anything you should not be doing. Some women spot for several months and everybody body is different.

My sister started bleeding early on in her pregnancy.. Don't worry too much!.. Many women experience bleeding/spotting as the placenta attached deeper and sometimes it can become detached in certain spots and reattach.. leaving a small pocket of blood between the uterus and placenta that gets pressed out as baby gets bigger. STAY HYDRATED.. When you get dehydrated, your natural pitocin will concentrate and make you contract, Good luck!

consult your doctor about this..but my sister bled also for the first month of her pregnancy and didn't even know she was pregnant during that time..but im 8 months pregnant right now and i havent had any problems like that. i didnt even get nautious during my pregnancy...just make sure you take your prenatal vitamins and i also read this book religiously, its called "what to expect when you're expecting" and it goes month by month during your pregnancy..it'll tell what to eat, and what to avoid..of course avoid heavy lifting and it will tell you what to expect even after you have your baby..i suggest getting that book and just talking with your doctor..=)
