Everyone needs someone they can trust and believe in. In the USA that would be God. Because at the present time we can't really trust anyone else. Not even eachother most of the time. It's sad to think that just because we Americans say in God we Trust, people from other countries and beliefs feel that we are trying to monopolize him (GOD). He is to most of us as Budda would be to that part of the world. He is about HOPE and LOVE and All things good for everyone, not just the USA but then you must believe.

The man who wrote the Pledge of Allegance and the people from the older days believed in a god. "God" isn't referring to any specific god. It doesnt imply a Christian or Buddhist god. It simply means we trust in a "higher power." Besides it's been around for years. It's not something someone thought up a few years ago. Or a clever saying Bush came up with.

The Founding Fathers were all avowed Christians. Some more Christian than others, but all believed that God had prepared America to be a "shining city upon a hill". The phrase "In God we Trust" doesn't mean that God is on our side, but reflects the hope that we are on God's side. It concerns our actions, not God's.

They had the wisdom to acknowledge Our All Powerful, All knowing Creator and the discernment to give all power and will back to Him. We're afraid to acknowledge and trust Him nowadays. The bible says in Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." The founding fathers of our nation were bible studying men of faith. How soon we all have forgotten this simple and profound fact.
