Because in football, all that matters is winning by just one more ball.
It doesn't matter how good, how talented, how hardworking, how much possesion of the ball, how many supporters, how much money they get, how good the coach, how good the referee, how bad the lines men, how good the football pitch, how much commercial revenue, how much betting, how much prayers, how much tears, how much anger, how many opportunities, how many red cards, how may yellow cards, how many yahoo answers, ... , all these don't matter.

Brazil wasn't a football team, but a bunch of great champions well fitted for commercials. Their line-up 4-2-2-2 was so heavyly unbalanced to force to guess this were a crowd claimed line-up and not a coach' choose. Could give Emerson and Ze Roberto sufficient cover when playing with Kaka, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Adriano together and with a defensive line not too quick and skilled? This was the question are all wondering about when tournament was starting. Brazil Stage1 match were boring, unimpressive, lack of will... they never had tactics, game strategies, great plays. They had weak opponents and won easily, we all - loving great football - were waiting for Brazil to finally show his play. Next match, Ghana fails.
I guess Ghana should think twice at his defeat. They try to cut off opponent's scoring opportunities, playing an offside tactic with a defensive line too near midfield. It reveals a suicidal tactic, Brazil had - and took - his chances to fast break attacks, the only thing a bunch af champion can do when there aren't any schemes. * By the way, 2 out 3 goals were scored in offside foul*
So, France was the first real test match, and we all have seen how worthy Brazil was. Emerson injury was another trouble. France easily controlled the match, applying tactics to avoid Brazilian fast break attacks. Kaka and Ronaldinho were walking around without any ideas. France definitively deserved to win, opponent try 1 only shoot on goal... If Ghana had started his match with a different attitude, they had got many chances... And, if Brazil had a rational 4-3-3 tactics, willingness, a REAL team spirit (it doesn't mean having fun or shooting a lot, but involves to run as far as you can, to help teammates discarding your chances to show impressive plays, to go tired until you ask for replacement...), the needed training... they had got many more chances.

Brazil has been overrated - players underperformed in all the games of the only tournament that mattered: FIFA World Cup. France has better players than Brazil in all departments - defence, midfield, attack. Brazil is only living on a past reputation.

Brazil wants there game play to be "pretty". When France just wants to score a goal and doesn't stop.

From the beginning brazilians were not good. They didn't perform well from against Croatia. Split against Japan and was about to be turned down by Australia. Although Ghana losed but performed better than the Brazillians.
France deserved it and therefore won the match.

No matter how good your players are, if you don't score, you can't win. France, on the other hand, capitalized that opportunity. Sometimes a little bit of luck here and there that would change the outcome of a game.

Ronaldo should have been out, robinho should have been allowed to play right from the beginning the games...after his victory with barca, ronaldinho was simply not himself in the world cup; ronaldo resembled a sea lion on the rocks; carlos was not bad, but could not mark henry to prevent that crucial goal; kaka was not bad, but wasn't good either; cafu - too old...the entire team had a luke warm team spirit....ZIDANE ROCKED...He's the supremo!
