Would you fight back or would you take the beating because the law is "Always right" and later try to testify in court on the cops who did this to you? Me, personally, I don't know at the moment so I can say I would or would not. However, if I think these cats are trying to beat me to death. Well...then it's on like popcorn! I'm going to die fighting if I have to! What do you think?

If a cop is beating you, not just trying to arrest you, but literally inflicting excessive harm, you can legally fight back.

Glock 509 clearly has no understanding of what it means to be a person of color in America...

I probably wouldn't fight back right away, because people have been SHOT for producing the information the cops asked for.
But if it was down to the wire, me or him, i guess it would be like thunderdome: two men enter, one man leaves.

When my son is old enough to be driving or out on his own, I am going to tell him to be deferential when police stop him; I will tell him that this will happen alot, and probably happens just because he is a black man. I will tell him not to argue, keep his hands where they can see them, and always remember that they are pretty much looking for an excuse to arrest/beat/kill him.
Sorry, but thats the way it is in this country

Did Rodney King "let" the cops beat him down? No one can legally beat someone down, not even the law. The law's not always right; hell, most of the time, they're wrong. I'd fight back and claim self-defense. Society's not even on the side of the law anymore anyways, so you'll come out the good guy.

If you cooperate with the cops, even if they're pulling you over for nothing, you have to wait until the diplomatic setting sets in, in order to plead your case. Point-of-arrest is not the time to dispute the cop. You have no lawyer present and you don't always have witnesses. I'm a minority myself. I would do what the cop says. They can't start beating you if you do what you're told. If you do, however, resist in the slightest, that's when the chance opens up for brutality. No, disputes have to be settled in court, not on the scene.

Hmmm...I think I'd sit there and take it while laughing internally at how they're going to eventually pay for it one way or another, preferriably by means of cash in my pocket $ChaChing$. But, yea, if I felt that they were planning on beating me to death, I'd fight like Ali in a bee hive.

Okay now all I can think about is Rodney King making that TV appearance after his beat down...hmm I was a real youngun, I don't know how I remember that.

Added Note:
I find it sad how many are asking for race to be completely avoided. Easy for you to say, you're not reminded that you're different on a daily basis. Its like asking me to sweep a gallon of blood under a doorway rug, it might hide it for awhile, but it will eventually bleed through, and I don't want to be responsible for cleaning up that stain. I look forward to the day whenever race won't be an issue, but as of now, it still is for me every single day of my life.

Why? Are you planning on commiting a crime and then claim racism when you get arrested or are you just paranoid ? Why is it always the cops that are the racists isn't your question a bit racist to assume if a cop has to use force it's racially motivated? Stay out of trouble and you won't have to worry about it.

Well it depends on what race you are, im not racist (if i hate someone its because of their personality not race) but most people are sub-conciously racist. If your white then you could sue and get millions. But if your black usually you go to jail.

Also it depends on the crime you commited. If you kill someone and a cop beats you then you got what you deserved. If you stole a can of tuna, then you could sue and get some money.

But for myself, I never get caught, so I don't have to worry about it. But if a cop is beating you for some odd reason (race for example) act more hurt than you actually are and he might quit early.

Well that's all i got, you can send your comments about my little answer to me at maxypoo@hotmail.com

Well, I think we know two things:

1. The law is not always right.
2. Make sure a video camera records the whole thing.

I'd let him beat me because I'm that retarded. Seriously...why are so many questions based on race? Did you know by always bringing up racial issues, theres always going to be racial problems..

Just kick the s**t out of anyone that bothers you.

Police have cameras in their cars these days,so if you hit back its in self defense.
