It all varies per household. I would say lipgloss is OK. It's just glorified chapstick, but I wouldn't allow more than that if I were a parent. However, I've heard of kids wearing makeup from an extremely young age. There is no good intention in it, and parents should not allow it. You might feel left out at school because all the other kids are doing it, but they just don't have parents that care. A parent that cares is one who is aware of what their child is doing, where they go, etc. Makeup really shouldn't be worn until a person is old enough to get married. So, 18 should be it. That's a bit extreme for America, though.

hey! im a makeup artist for MAC and Covergirl. i also do the models makeup for the magazines Seventeen and Teen people. And, my neice is also 13 and she just started wearing make-up. i showed her what she should wear. I think that light eyeshadows like, light pink, browns, golds, and lighter earthtones like that would look so much better then dark colors. As for eyeliner, i think it looks pretty on younger girls AS LONG as they dont over-do it. THeres so many teens who reallly over-do their eyeliner. it looks horrible. But, for lipgloss, everylittle girl that i know has been wearing lipgloss since they were 5. I dont think lipgloss is a big deal. But, it also depends on her parents. I think a light pink lipgloss or clear would look good. hope i helped! :D

First of all, 13 is an appropriate age to wear makeup. I started wearing it when I was 13. Just find makeup that makes her look clean and natural. She doesn't need to wear too much makeup, but just enough to bring out her good features.

If you're a mke-up artist, you should know better than anyone that the best make-up is the natural one, especially for a 13 years old girl! If she really wants to try something, then you should suggest only a lipgloss, with fruit flavour and a nice flower perfume.

oh wow. some of these people who say none. I DiSaGrEe!!! The lip gloss can totally stay but if it gets Way too dark. lighten it up a bit as for eyeliner keep it natUral with browns. Black is out of the question. The only black you should wear is mascara. Eye shadow depends on ur complexion. If you have light skin then you should stick with Light pinks. A medium complexion should start out with light blue and a little tan/brown. A dark skinned girl should wear bright pink to stand out more of ever green (green with medium complexion works too ^_^) Foundation is just out of the question. Unless she wants to cover up her face just use a light foundation on the area blend it in as close as possible.

I think eye liner and lipgloss is enough for a 13 year old. Make up tends to make you look older therefore it will draw attention to much older men and cause trouble in the long run. perhaps she should wait for a couple of years.

Just enough to make your niece happy, but not enough to make her look like a street walker. Help her or take her to get a makeover. Have someone show her how she can wear makeup without looking like she has any on.

i would say, dun start with a lip gloss. its too 'glossy' for a 13 year old. i would recommend if she wears a lipstick like what 'Lana' from Smallville would wear. the colour of the lipstick is roses to pink. its neither shiny nor matt. Overall, she should wear make-up that looks natural..i hope you understand what i've said...
