If you mean how do you cope with others who are short tempered, I suggest that you don't have to cope with someone like that. Just shrug your shoulders (as if to say I don't have time for this), and walk away.

I've been there.
Two things:
One: Stop thinking about the things that bug you.
Eg: I used to curse the motorists who crossed lanes. Then one day, when I was deep in thought and thinking about something else, a guy almost nearly killed me on the road and I forgot to curse.
Two: Get into something that you really really want to do.
It might be a hobby, an adventure, or even loving someone.
Get so involved in something that you forget to get angry.

Anger is a mask for hurt, hurt that you might have endured during your childhood and now cannot let go of it, so each time get angry you actually get hurt again at those same wounds, so now you retaliate as you would have wanted to as a child.
Try to find when in your life did you get so hurt especially when you could not express your hurt. Once you find those moments heal them by forgiving t hose who have hurt you and yourself as you might be holding a grudge against yourself for not standing up for yourself. Know that it wasn't your fault ever, sometimes we get hurt. But now you can express you displeasure without need to get angry and you will be heard as you are old now.

When you sense/feel I am losing my temper, quietly vanish from the scene, if cannot, then say sorry and keep shut. In any case no arguments/discussion or any kind of justifications.

first i will analyse me and see why i get upset, then i will try and avoid those places that upset me then if i am forced to come in contact with things that upset me, i will go to a happy place. Most times the happy place may not be memories, it may be imaginations or dreams. Itried it and it works cus i used to get irritated easily but now i don't anymore
