I'm English and I think this is a touchy question for us!

Ronaldo is a cheating ******, I use to think he was good until I got to see more of him! He was on the floor for most of the game against England and twice as long when Portugal were against France.

In the end I am glad France won, they didn't play too well, but "it doesn't matter whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning"

I hope they win the cup now!!

On the field the teams played pretty even. Until the penalty the first half was open and exciting. Portugal had some decent chances, the best from a Ronaldo-Maniche combination. But France looked dangerous too, and who knows what might have happened if Henry had gotten a clear play for goal instead of diving when lightly clipped. In the second half, though, France were terrific in defence and made Portugal look almost tame. Zidane kept Deco almost completely out the game. The best chance came from Ronaldo's free kick, which must have had some wicked movement to fool Barthez so badly. Figo had his chance, and if he had put it away, the story would have been different. Portugal had the better keeper, that's for sure; but on the whole, France deserved to go through.

Shelfy - the slow motion replays from every angle shows that Henry was tripped! The penalty was deserved and Zidane rules. Portugal are a bunch of divers, at one point 2 of them went down together like a syncro swim team!

France did the right thing to sit back and play defensively because they had 5 players on yellow cards, and with portugal diving as they were, if any of the french team had taken them on in a tackle, there would have been more diving, the french players would have got more cards and half the team would miss the final.

France played better, France played fairer, France deserve to go through! Get over it already.

France are really the only team left in it who deserve to win. I'm not too keen on them, but if Italy and Portugal would've met in the final it would've looked like a rendition of Swan Lake and I might have had to give up on the beautiful game forever. With a bit of luck Portugal will also get hammered by Germany and experience the privilege of losing twice! Cheating knobends!!

The Truth?
Last night Portugal were the better team. France got a penalty after Henry dived and cheated, he went down like he was shot by a sniper. They didn't deserve a penalty and didn't deserve to win.

The large part of the English public, fuelled by an irresponsible press....are showing their stupidity by slagging Ronaldo.

if an english player had been involved in an incident that resulted in a Portugese player being sent off, they wouldn't have complained that he was cheating,
its double standards, sour grapes and ignorance.
I'm English and disgusted with some of the xenophobic attitudes.
We didn't lose because of ronaldo. We lost because of Erikson, because we had no Plan A or Plan B, because three highly paid professionals can't hit a barn door with a banjo and because we just aren't good enough. simple as that.

I think that Portugal dominated and that the Penalty was rubbish. Portugal had much better opportunities. Ricardo got a hand on the penalty though, although it was a nice shot.

I don't agree! I was unfair to loose like that! I prefered to know we were rubbish, and France won us by 3-0. But i know we did great, the best a small country could do. And lost again in a semi-final, to France, again, and over a penalty again!
When we meet Germany and we loose big time (3-0), it wont hurt half of it does now.
