1. george a. romero's dawn of the dead (1978) - a must-see not because of blood and gore (in my opinion, there was hardly any except for the last few scenes) but because of the story itself.
2. the exorcist - need i say more? this one is a classic and may well be the scariest film ever made.
3. day of the dead (1985) - was said to be romero's weakest zombie movie but i think otherwise.
4. the hills have eyes - you can watch both the original and the remake if you like just to compare the two.
5. the grudge (ju-on) - the japanese version sure did a hell of a number on my head. i couldn't sleep without the lights on for weeks after watching his 1 & 2 movie.

The Haunting - Go with the black and white version. Soo much better then the remake.
Pyscho - It's a classic
Obre los Ojos - It's a spanish horror movie, maybe more of a thriller..
The Evil Dead - C'mon, who doesn't love Bruce Cambell?
The Ring - I saw it on a halloween, slept with the light on for weeks, and refused to answer phones.
