I'm looking to lease a Morgan horse in Missouri for riding and local shows. Nothing big, just a step higher from my mare who can't be ridden for awhile. I can't find any online through Dreamhorse, Horsetopia, and Equine.com for leasing, only buying. The farrier/vet doesn't know of anyone, neither do tack shops. All I want to do is lease one, not buy. Any suggestions?
Any help is appreciated.

I know that Morgans aren't overly popular in my area. I would suggest that you contact the local Morgan association and simply phone all the breeders.

I would put an ad up at the tack stores in your area, The vet if they have a bulletin board.
Call around to the Stables in your area and surrounding areas if you drive.
put an ad up even at the post office and Grocery Store you just never know. :)

Where in MO? I live in MO and you might try stables or equestrian centers that board and have lessons. The phonebook near you would give you local ones. I know we have a Horse Instructor in Excelsior Springs that leases horses, gives lessons and boards. It's jabqthorse@aol.com if interested.

spread the word to other horse people that you are looking to lease, make up flyers and post them at horse shows, auctions, feed stores...anywhere a horse person might go. Call local stables,ask them or if you know anyone who owns alot of horses ask them directly.

put a ad on board at local feed store, also check on-line for Morgan breeders in your area & see if any of them are willing to have you show for them. If you are a fairly good rider they may take you on for getting exposure for their horses. Either to give the horse experience or promote the bloodline or to help in sales. good luck in your search.
