Yes it is, your muscles are just going through a "protective" phase, they are trying to repair themselves were you had the injury.

How recent? how large is the scar. is it stapled, sutured? Was it a surgery, or was it to repair trauma? Swealling will last a while, look for extra pain, more swealling, Change in color, blue , or more red, Heat arround swollen area means infection.. Extended hardness could mean pyoid infection, drainage may be slightly bloody or serous but not *****-- white or green. It must not stink- that means infection.. blah, blah, blah, etc..Clean it well according to the instructions you were given, I use antibiotic ointment liberally after cleaning, it helps..

the skin is forming a scar, yes it seems normal but it if the area doesnt return to what you feel is "normal" in a week or two call your doctor.
for assurance, ask the dr when you get the stitches taken out !
good luck

You did not mention the stitches being from surgery or what procedure, but that hardness is called induration, and that is not normal. Especially when induration is accompanied by redness (erythema), tenderness/pain, or drainage. Follow up with your healthcare provider.

What to look for if you are worried is:

Red color around the stiches (very red)
Warm feeling around the stiches (when you touch)
Swollen skin around the stiches

These factors indicates an infection and you should go back and see the doctor again.

Consult your doctor, if all ok, it's probably scar tissue, which can feel harder than your normal skin. Try gently rubbing vitamin e oil into it & that will make the scar less prominent & it heals quicker. (Best source is capsules, just break open.) This really works.

yes, scar tissue generally forms a lump. However, if the area is tender and hot to the touch and appears red, go back to the doctor, it could be infected.

It's entirely normal to have a hard part in your groin. I wake up every morning with one.
