First of all, I would like to tell you that I am Black. Secondly, I would like to say that this is a difficult question and it really shouldn't be. If everything in life was fair then I would say there should be no problem with it (as long as it is not intended for segregation and racism). But some people may become offended because of the way some (and I do mean some) White people have treat minorities in the past (and now a days too). B/c White people (in general) have a history of dominating and treating other races unfairly, it makes minorities suspicious to see something say white people only (ex. Jim Crow laws). I wish I could say that beyond a shadow of a doubt that it would be OK, but I know that there would be repercussions. I know it doesn't see right to have things specified for certain groups of people without allowing all groups of people to participate. I am really curious though, what would you discuss or do in a club like this?

Definitely. I would think she has every right to start a club like that. What is more important, IMO, is the aim of the club that she wants to start.

If the aim is to promote the understanding of caucasians, i.e. to study or to help others understand the origins, descent etc of caucasians, AND it is a club open for all to join, then it should be fine.

If the aim is purely discriminatory, i.e. to start an exclusive caucasians only club which bars other people from joining, then this is discrimination of highest order which most national constitutions do not condone, much less institutes of education.

I don't see the problem. At my school there are clubs like FLA (future leaders of America) that are black only, and we just have to think it was no big deal. However, it an all white club was started it would be racist. Well if everyone needs to be equal, why not get rid of the NAACP? And I was looking at information for scholarships for the University of Tennessee and me being a white female in order to get $3,000 extra off tuition, I would need a 28 ACT and a 3.5 GPA. Not a big deal because I have that but, if I was black, all I would need would is a 23 ACT and a 3.0! And blacks want to say only whites are racist? Blacks are just as racist against whites.

Yes, absolutely. I'm not Caucasian myself, but I would vouch for her idea. It is only fair.

She should also be able to stricly limit memberships to Caucasians-only, with little or no protest on the part of non-Caucasian individuals. I may sound crazy, being a minority myself, but I'm a moderate and have been fighting for the equal rights of White Americans for quite a while, though at a cost (-;

She must be allowed to- or sue the school if she isn't. Should she form the club? Only if it is her intention to muck up the school officials- otherwise the whole thing is a waste of time. She should form the club, sue the school when they won't let her and use that money to buy nice things- or if they let her- just disband it or find some idiot to run it

No, caucasians are the majority anyway, so I dont think she should start that, it sounds racist, I club should be based on a similar interest that people have like: Art, theater, sport, etc. It shouldnt be based on something that a person cant decide like race.

Sure but the little darling needs to understand that Arabs, Indians and Native Americans and most hispanics are all Caucasions. What she wants to form is a white european club. If she wants to and school rules allow it more white power to her.

If there are Afro-American and Hispanic clubs - why not a Caucasian club??

If there are black clubs, or Asian clubs, or left-footed female Ukranian (lactating) clubs, then, there is nothing in the Constitution to forbid it.

But, *should* she...? She needs to think carefully about it, as we're living in a time when it's socially correct to specify and select on the basis of any race...except Caucasian.

She'd be asking for trouble.

Seeing as there are Hispanic and African-American clubs at most high schools already, why not?
