Start with the tent positioned where it is to be pitched. Make sure all zips are fastened and that the groundheet is stretched flat.
1) Insert the two flexible rods in the fabric tubes. The rods generally come in sections with an elastic cord running through and metal sockets to connect the rods into one flexible length. Make sure the rods are fully connected before starting.
2) connect ends of both rods on one side to their retaining pockets or spikes
3) do the same on the other side, making sure that the fabric is distributed evenly and with no creases
4) if a central tie is provided to tie the rods together, fasten this.
5) Peg down the inner tent so as to stretch the groundsheet taut
6) Cover the inner tent with the flysheet
7) position the appropriate number of pegs on the lines of the seams of the fly sheet so that the fabric can be tightened without slackness or wrinkles and so that it nowhere touches the inner tent.
For a two- or three- man tent, this can often be done fairly easily by one person in about 15 mins, though two will make the job quicker and easier. Larger tents will be far easier to pitch with two or more people assisting.

That's hard to say. I have six dome tents and one tunnel tent. Only two of my dome tents will take high winds and my tunnel tent will also take high winds. Four of my dome tents are just not strong enough for high winds. The more poles and the more guy out points you have, the stronger the tent will be. A large dome tent capable of standing up to storms will be a lot more expensive than a tunnel tent that will do the same thing.

Well from personal experience try this:
Buy numerous tents for years that go up the "wrong way", leak
, cause family feuds, annoy/amuse the (camping) neighbours.
Then give in ,save yer pennies, go to a nice camping store and buy a nice Khyam. They go up easy-peasy, the store showed me how to do it (twice), plus you get a video from Khyam (maybe a dvd now!!). That's how to erect one.
Failing that put your dome tent up with the help of family, friends, neighbourhood search and rescue team and army engineers. Once done, take photos of everything and label EVERYTHING.
Try and remember when it says "right" whether this means "your right" or right from looking at it ha ha!! Just buy a kyham.

Basically there should be two poles that form an "X". Anything beyond that would depend on the tent. Are the poles seperate parts or are they joined by a cord? does it have a rain cover? those are all things that need to be known before you can get a complete answer.

Follow the instructions usually works for me. Its not that difficult really, even I can do it! You will probably need an extra pair of hands to put the poles in (and take them out again!) though.
