Don't judge people unless you wish to be judged as well.

For me, this age-old saying means simply this:

Don't point out and punish the acts/deeds that you consider bad in others because you will have to suffer the same from someone else. That's pretty straight forward right? Well wrong, it's not. Imagine that everyone is perfect, in an imperfect way. The ancient Toltec believed that we, like God and Nature, are perfect. We do not judge or forgive Nature when it rains or there's an earthquake or tsunami right? We simply marvel at Natures power, accept it as part of the universe, and continue living the best we can. All that we do that we may consider bad is part of our Nature, we are already forgiven, and we may be having some bad weather. Knowing that a person is perfect means that we can only stand back and marvel at the miracle they are. There are only a few things that some people do that are considered NOT perfect and those are the things that go against nature (murder for the sake of murdering, molesting or hurting a child or elderly person, rape, etc).

I'm glad you're here in all of your perfection, the universe (or me) couldn't be here without you, your presence is required!

Begin the greatest love affair of your life...with yourself.

Here's the passage where that comes from.

7"Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

It's mostly about trying to avoid condemning other people for things which you yourself possess, and worse. In fact the deeds yo u yourself are guilty of obscure your own judgement of others deeds. Consider also Romans 8:23, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."

It means do not judge ppl, because you will be judged in return. It kind of ties into the Golden Rule...Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Don't judge someone unless you would want them judging you.

Keep your opinion of others to yourself.
You will be respected and others are less likely to talk behind your back. If they do, resist commenting.
