Weak equivalence is a relationship between the outputs of two systems that are being compared. Here, quantitavely, you are comparing yourself and the planet and you want a relationship or an equation or a formula to give you the results of the comparison. I will try, but I don't think you will compare my answer favorably.

You are on this planet for enjoying life.

Hey Emily, it's a great question, one that we should all ask ourselves more frequently and take a little more seriously. I know I'm here for kids, not my own (of course I am here for him, but he's my only one and he's 23 now, he's ALWAYS been #1) and not neccessarilly for children but for anyone younger that needs some assistance or guidance. When/If they don't have opportunities or adults to share their struggles, pain, heartbreak or joy with they call me. I'll help them with their college application, or getting back with their girlfriend etc... I work full time and always have but it started out as "my boys" because I was the Den leader for the boys Cub Scout den and they became like my kids well that was 11 - 16 years ago and not only are they like my kids, but their brothers and sisters know they can all come over and no matter how tired or anything I am, they will have my full attention and I will give them stellar advice. If a boyfriends putting pressure on my girls and she embarrassed to stop it or to talk to her Dad, I'll talk to her Dad for her, (Oftentimes I'll talk to the boyfriend too, because very likely he knows me too)So that's what I do, That's what makes me happy, that's my purpose, what I need to figure out is how to do it full time and get paid for it!!! Cuz let me tell you the insurance world may pay me, but it doesn't make my world feel finished!

I am on this planet to experience being on this planet.

alternate:

This planet is a living being of which I am part, sort of like an organ or maybe a cell. Our purpose as human "cells" on the earth is to remove hydrocarbons from below the ground surface and bring them to the surface for oxidation. They are unstable and uncomfortable for the earth underneath her skin.

Your question belongs under philosophy and religion.

That said, to define "why" one must assume purpose.

If you ask what is your "purpose" on this planet, I have to say to be a good husband, father, worker, and friend. to be of service to the higher power of my understanding.

My Dearest Emily, your use of "your" was an egregious error;shoulda been "you're",meaning of course "you are".Aside from that, pretty sure the reason I'm on the planet is an unseen force known as "GRAVITY".

I say it depends on what you believe. Basic Christian religions tell us we are on Earth to do serve God's will, worship him and be nice to each other. If that's not your idea of fun the a purely scientific answer (if you follow evolution) is that our purpose is to live long enough to pass on our genes (mate) and then as mammals, to raise our young until they are able to fend for themselves....so take your pick, Love God and people, Or have sex and raise kids...lol

I think I'm on this planet because gravity draws me towards it.

The best answer that I have seen came from the late Carl Sagan. When asked, what is the significance of life, he replied, "If you want your life to have significance, do something significant."
