If you look back at the game between Portugal and Holland ... You'll see that the referee had no control over the players! He let the game degenerate then ended up handing cards as though they were no tomorrows. So in this case at least ... Bad refereeing saw a game turn into open war and did nothing to calm it down, simply fuelled it a bit more.
There have been many instances when players got a penalty for diving and referees gave the penalty because they were not concentrating on the action, just as there have been justified penalties denied simply because a player is known to dive, even though such player may not have dived in a particular case.
Oftenm there is a problem of communication between referees and other officials as well. And a decision is made that angers a team feeling they are being treated unfairly. And it sometimes leads to protests and a player being yellow carded when he is in fact stating the truth! Free kick/penalty was given when it shouldn't/denied when it should be given!
Yes fans are quick to blame referees and anyone else really when their team crashes out but it's only a natural reaction! They feel angry, sad as well because their expectations were not met but you shouldn't confuse such reaction with actual bad refereeing.
My father played foot ball you see! And i attended all his games then i played foot ball as well! Yup ladies team although we were no ladies when it came to winning at times i can tell you! And as someone who got away with being red carded a few times, lived to tell the tale ... And as someone who got red carded a few times when i only deserved to be 1/2 the time ... i can tell you! Referes don't always get it right!

That is why we need a new system of refing, one in which there are like 10 refs, the normal four, plus 6 others stationed at each corner and at the halfway lines watching replays. It would not slow down the game at all. In fact, it would make it flow more smoothly especially when teams like italy are playing and diving. That call was not right, and if you see it from all angles and don't just see it from one angle that maybe looks like it was a foul (like the one you saw at the end of the game), then you will see. And what about the australia italy game, you have to admit that the ref just gave the game to the italians. If there had been 10 refs, then they wouldn't have won and it would have been a fair game. I hate what has happened to the game and I wish that it could be fair again.

Imagine your mom putting you on punishment for little things, or things you didn't do. The garbage piles up, she puts you on restrictions--she doesn't warn you or anything.
You use the telephone for 4 hours and she takes away your phone privileges for a week. You sneeze and don't cover your mouth, you get sent to your room--no dinner. You use the bathroom (you don't even stink it up) and you are forced to clean it. You take the car out for a drive but don't fill the gas tank, and you are restricted from using it for a week.
How annoying would that be? Well, that's basically what the refs have been doing in this entire series. Yellow card yellow card yellow card yellow card yellow card for every little thing. Harmless tackle? Yellow Card. Player stumbles off another player while running? Yellow Card. Player runs downfield? Yellow Card.
It's not that fans are blaming the refs for the yellow cards, it's just that there are so many given that it becomes ridiculous. We know that there can only be one winner in a game, but for God's sake, let's not penalize our teams for breathing! It gets to be too much.

Die heart fanatics are usually the individuals who cannot accept the calls of the refs and flow of the game. In actuality they cannot stand to loose no matter what the circumstance. These are the people who destroy property and make complete ***__ of themselves when their team wins. It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that there will always be missed calls in any sport. It is impossible for a human being to always be correct when officiating. The action is too fast. I believe that the overwhelming majority of referees train and try their absolute best to be the best at their job. Regardless to who you are or what you do"to err is human".

definite, human beings attempt this each and every of the time and one time 2 instructions at my college performed football and requested me to be their referee. i replaced into very drained operating up and down the sphere, the score replaced into 9-13 and that i do nt understand why, after I whistled for an off section, they began operating to me shouting and calling names and that i ran quick and locked myself contained in the instructors place of work. They were not conversing to me for per week and that i promised i is merely not a referee lower back.

Hey. I agree
The pressure on the refs is immense.
No matter wot they say there will always be someone that is unimpressed with the decison.
Thats why for the world cup the best refs are chosen and it is up to them wot decisions are made.
I say stop givin the refs a hard time and focus on the game.

well not all refs are perfect you have to understand that. of course a lot of the refs are right most of the time but some are just horrible and some have caused teams to lose, wheter it be a PK or offside or just not calling fouls when the other team plays dirty. i know its impossible that the ref cost every team their game but it happens and not everyone is perfect. and yes some refs are biased, like it or not.

People didn't blame the ref. in the Super Bowl. So they shouldn't blame the ref for the FIFA World Cup.
