Hoping to get some advice from someone who knows about using them. Is there any certain type a beginner should look for, or brand? What all can you do with a serger?

Thanks for any advice I can get!

They are so easy, I've begun to sew again after many years! Once they are threaded (which is NOT hard, but takes a couple minutes) they can stay that way. Saves time finishing seams like nobody's business!

well

be sure you learn how to thread it.

adjusting tension can be a challenge. remember you have 3 - 4 needles to control.

be willing to practice a lot -- have lots of scrap fabric on hand.

it can be enjoyed, but it has it's drawbacks.

My students enjoyed using one, but I would be sure to have it set and I would forbid them to touch any of the knobs.
