You just said..."in all accidents people die". They die. If it be from not knowing how to swim and they drown, they die. If it be from the boat colliding with another boat and they suffer multiple serious injuries and cannot get to a hospital in time, they die. If the boat explodes for whatever reason, they die. If they slip and hit their head on the side of the ship, they might die. The reasons why a person could die while fishing are endless.

A body dies for many reasons..blood loss, trauma, no oxygen etc. etc. etc.

Even though I've given you some scenarios, I have a feeling that is not what you are looking for, maybe you need to explain yourself further.

No one yet has mentioned mermaids. Insidious creatures who along with mermen and selkies have been known to pull fisher folk from their boats to spawn their hellish breed. Lake Erie was once home of quite a few until the US wisely decided to dump industrial waste into it through the Cayahoga river and set the river on fire. Toasted a good many.

Heart attacks take a great many fishermen especially those who sail too close the shore where sirens sing. Earplug technology has improved since the days Odysseus had his crews' ears stuff with wax and then himself lashed to the mast. He later reported that their songs were vaguely reminicent of a cross between Madonna and Prince: very sexual but with a snappy beat. The order Syrenedia have died out, as well, mostly due to speed boats playing over-amped white-boy rap music (Eminem and Linkin Park) which attacks the sirens into the turbo prop blades.

The largest number of fishing deaths have come from suicides. Catch envy, depressing songs played at marinas, the cost of gasoline, the cost of slip fees, and just the realization that the kids no longer wish to go out with their father now that they have XboX "Fisherman!" the first-person shooter game. No more baiting hooks, sun burn, eating lousy hotdogs and worse potato salad for these young leaders. They can get all the upsides without the down. And who knows what you can virtually hook in that game. The fisherman, an ancient relic of America's quaint past, like the last buffalo, is fading fast.

Peace and a size ten Blue Winged Oive Dry Fly!

People do not die in ALL accidents, cr@pping yourself is an accident but it won't kill you. Now, to the other half of your question, fishing is an activity that involves being near water, water is bad, it can fill your lungs and prevent you from breathing air, if you can't breathe air you will die. This is called drowning in case you haven't worked it out already.

Didn't you hear about the guy from Europe that hooked a fish so big he wouldn't let it go for anything and it dragged him onto the water and he drowned. When the divers found him, he was still holding on to the pole and the giant fish was still attatched on the other end of the line. They gave him credit for the catch.

One way, they are trying too hard to pull in a fish that is too big and splash, they're in the water and then the dice turns, the fish is the one pulling in the guy.
