I think it has a great future and the market for e-commerce has grown multiple folds.
people are more & more relying on online shopping due to their hectic schedule, better services, quality & range provided online by the merchants.

U-commerce, and T-commerce is booming recently. More standarization in formats too, e.g. SVG, XML.
