I went yesterday. They did a urine test, blood work, asked about medical history, gave me my due date and did a pelvic exam. oh and gave me prenatal vitamins.

At the first visit they will confirm your pregnancy, have you fill out a medical history about yourself and possibly do blood work. They might also do an ultra sound. Go to the first visit with all of your questions, your physician will answer them for you. Also make sure you remember the last day of your last menstral cycle as they will determine the due date according to that.
GOOD LUCK!! Becoming a parent is a BLAST!!!

When you visit your DR to tell him you are pregnant, he will write to the maternity hospital of your choice and they will send you an appointment for a routine scan. There, they will ask you lots of questions and probably take blood and a urine sample to send away.

If you are fit and healthy, you should just have 2 scans throughout your 9 months pregnancy, and you will visit your regular GP every few weeks so they can check the development of your baby. They will feel your bump to check the position your baby is lying in.

Congratulations and good luck.

They will make you pee in a cup. You'll have to do that throughout your pregnancy to check that you're not getting protein in your urine. The doctor will make you strip from the waist down. you'll have to have a full gynecological exam, where the doctor will feel your uterus to make sure the baby's OK. They''ll most likely also order an ultrasound to get a look at the baby.

When was your last period so they can get your due date, get medical history, weigh you, get urine and blood test, what is your insurance company, who is going to be your pediatrician, natural delivery?, breast feeding the baby?, what hospital are you going to? are some of the things they ask and do on your FIRST visit with the doctor

well, not every doctor will do the same thing. At my doc office, they do transvaginal ultrasound to measure the length of the baby. They will measure from your pelvic bone to the top of your uterus. you will have alot of questions to answer regarding your health and lifestyle. be sure not to be afraid to ask questions, that is what they are there for. they will tell you how much weight to gain, and tell you to take your prenatal vitamins. congratulations!

blood test, urine test, feeling of your uterus from the outside at least...
they answer all of your questions and ask you a bunch about your preferences. they'll tell you what you should and shouldn't eat/do and what to expect. it usually isn't very intrusive. congrats!
