Friends are for real and for life.
It all depends on how we cultivate that and accept the friend with his or her positive as well as negative points.

Like the other poster said- some come and go all through life. I live with my best friend whom I've known for 16 years. I have a few friends from high school that I talk to every week that I've known 21 years, and I don't think that our friendship will ever end. Sure, one of my buddies just got married and is expecting a child, so in 6 months or so I'm sure that I won't hear from him as much. Every time I go to Seattle, though, it's like we just saw each other last week. I guess I just picked well, or maybe the size of the town (165,000) had something to do with it. You both need to keep the flame of friendship alive, though. I've gone a year or two without talking to some people and then just picked up the phone and started over again. Remember that there is a difference between true friends and acquaintances.

Yes, if you are lucky enough to find a true blue real life friend, then you are one of those special people who will never be alone. Your friend may be your soulmate or your neighbor next door. Hey, I have had a friend since kindergarten who is so great. We have known eachother for almost 20 years, so I do believe that friendship lasts forever. It is a growing process that takes until old age to fully understand.

Friendship is real. I have a best friend that I've known since 7th grade. I could tell this girl anything and I know that she would understand no matter what. There have been times where we haven't been that close, like when i was going out with my last boyfriend, but as soon as he dumped me, she was right there to help me plot revenge. Don't you have friends?

Urm.. There's a real friend in your life.. It depends on how or what kind of friendship the person treats you. yes. the friendship will last long only if you guys know how to handle quarrel or how to solve a prob or any conflicts. If don't know how to handle it, well, i guess it's too bad to say that the friendship will not last.

They come, they go. I have a friend I'm still in contact with since 5th grade (and with as much moving as I did as a kid, that's literally an achievment considering I'm 20), and some I've hung out with a lot but suddenly doesn't answer my calls out of the blue, even when we literally made a pact, so who knows?

My friendships have changed over the years. People will come and go but some people you will hold close over the years. They may not be in the same role in your life but they will always be your friend.

yes, there is real friendship, and it could be life long, but there is also back stabbing, it has a lot to do with luck and the nature of that friend, most people are selfish, so when there are circumstances, or it is life or death, people show their true color, so always keep your eyes open. protect your back.

Speak from your heart, don't use cliches. I think these "quotes" would hurt more. Try to emphasize your former partners positive qualities. Make sure they know that you think it is best for the split to end the friendship, not that there is anything wrong with them.
