Yes, they were and the ship has become their tomb. When you visit Pearl Harbor you will be awed by the respect and dignity that has been afforded the Arizona memorial. Considering the amount of damage, destruction and death that was left in the wake of the attack, this is all that could be done. The memorial is beautiful and quite an emotional place to visit.

Sadly, yes: the bodies of hundreds of brave sailors remain to this day deep inside the ship, which is a revered and respected National Memorial to them and other American servicemen who died on that tragic day in Pearl Harbor during a savage and unprovacated Japanese air attack.

In fact, some surviving USS Arizona crewmen who also fought in that battle can apply for and have been cremated and their ashes are also put inside that ship, at the behest of the U.S. Navy, each one given a hero's funreal. You will not find a dry eye if you're present during such a sad event.

Yes, the bodies in the hull were left in place as a war grave. The ones in the superstructure were removed and buried when it was removed after the war.

yes they were left there out of respect that why it is known more of a tomb not a ship today

yes that is true and its also true that any one that was on pearl harbor when it was bombed has a choice to be buried in the Arizona or be buried in a cemetery
