YES and the fact that so few question it is TERRIFYING

Sure it does. And I've watched it slowly happen most of my adult life. The bigger the government gets the more power they want thus the less freedom we have and of course it's all for our own good. But people don't notice that much because it is being done slowly. Like cooking a frog. If you just toss him into a pot of hot water he will jump right out, but if you put him in nice cool water he will be ok and you turn the heat up slowly he gets used to it until it's too late and you got frog legs for dinner! First it was smoking next is food. I can see the fat police run into a Wendys wrestle a supersized bag of fries away from a fat kid and take him home to scold his parents. And knowing our government hit them with a big fat fine. But a lot of people will say that is a good thing. Is it? I know it's trivial stuff but the pot isn't boiling yet....

I think is quite funny because you look at the left with their equality for all bs, but if you look at what its doing, its just taking away the rights of anyone who doesn't agree with them. And you can't even say what you think anymore because if it doesn't go along with the left's views you are a racist and a hate monger. I know we like to get all up in arms about these programs that we can blame on Bush, ie airport security. But, in this instance if it was okay to profile arabs we wouldn't have to be stripped searched. One more example is the state of welfare. The left wants us to give all this money to the capable poor who aren't doing anything while kids who want to go to college do not get any money from the government to do so. Yes the gov't is taking away freedom and privacy but don't be so quick to blame it on the Bush administration. He may be an idiot or a complete moron, not sure which one, but hes trying to do what he thinks is best to protect our freedom and privacy. The left just wants power so they will continue to take away what we hold dear whereas the right just wants money so, in a pessimistic light, they need us.

Sort of....

There's always been a trade off between freedom and security. As security increases freedoms tend to decrease. As freedoms increase security tends to decrease.

We live in a complicated world. I don't like it, however If I call egypt to talk to my buddy, I don't really care if the SEC records that conversation to help prevent another september 11th.

So here's a question.....would you mind the government listening to your calls to arab counties or calls that include the words "bomb" "nuclear", etc IF it would prevent 3 nuclear detonations...one in NYC, one in LA, and one in Chicago.

would you trade those lives for your "privacy"?

It's hard to say if that's what the trade off is or not. As for me....I don't mind. I don't want the USA to become NAZI germany, but I think there are certain things that sound good on paper that may not work in the real world.
