Honestly, I've never heard that before. I mean, I know some fat is good for us, so you should include some "good" fat in each meal. Honestly though, the 2 ways I know of losting weight are to put together a meal plan, and exercise (cardio).
A meal plan: usually we're told to eat a certain amount of calories per day, and break them up among about 5-6 meals a day. Basically, you want to eat a meal every 4 hours (and not in between). Each meal should be only a serving size (meat = size of your palm, carbs (noodles, taters, rice) the size of your fist, and as much in vegies and fruit as you like. Also, lay off the fried food...instead, bake, steam, or boil your food. Now if you're going to cheat, maybe eat a cupcake or something, then assign a cheat day. So if you don't have enough will power to withold completely, maybe you can save it for that day.
As for exercise, do something that will make you sweat (cardio), like aerobics, Tae-Bo, run, martial arts training, etc. And if you want to turn it into muscle, put together a weight training routine. But always have the cardio in there, too.
But whatever you do, don't forget to also drink something...you want to remain hydrated. Speaking of which, Bruce Lee used to do something called a "water diet", where he'd drink a lot of water. I don't suggest you do it like he did, but drinking water will help in losing weight (just don't stop drinking the milk and other stuff...you still need the nutrients and salt in other drinks).
Give it a few months, and I'm sure you'll notice the difference.

why you love fat-free milk?> . or why they say you need to give it up?? lol. .
I love fat free milk myself, and I can't think of any reason to give it up except that, like myself, you might be a bit lactose intolerant (I doubt that's the reason they are telling you to).
I know that with fat free, there's basically no cholesterol in it, and you're not getting fat from it, and you are getting calcium. Maybe you could ask a doctor what they think. . (if you can't get anyone on here who's a doc ). .

They are probably saying that becase fat free milk has more sugar than whole milk. But if you don't overdue it, drinking 2-3 glasses a day is sufficient. Whole milk will put on the pounds due to the fat content.

According the newest health studies, fat free milk is a good way to help your body lose weight. Are you lactose intolerant? Whole milk is bad for you, 2% isn't very good either. Skim milk is actually good and good for you.
The best person to ask is your doctor.

It is often the case that low fat or fat free foods are loaded with sugar. Milk naturally contains sugar (lactose in milk is sugar).
If you want to loose weight, it is better to get your carbs from vegetables and fruits.

WELL BECAUSE DIARY IS VERY FATTENING.
EVEN FAT FREE MILK.
SOY MILK WOULD BE A BETTER CHOICE.
TRUST ME IT'S DELICIOUS.
BUT MILK(FROM A COW)IN GENERAL IS NOT GOOD.
I STOPPED DRINKING REGULAR MILK 10 YRS AGO AND THE MUCUS FROM THE BACK OF MY THROAT AND SINUS CLEARED UP.
MY ACNE CLEARED UP.
I JUST FELT BETTER.
BUT IF YOU STILL DECIDE TO GO WITH THE FAT FREE MILK LET IT BE ONLY TWICE A WEEK.
ONE SERVING A DAY.

The recommendation would be to substitute water in its place. Milk, regardless of fat content, is still a source of both calories and protein. If you're simply drinking the milk, you can reduce your daily caloric intake by using water or other no-calorie drinks in its place.

Hmmm, milk has some calories, but not a ton. So I'm not sure why everyone is saying that. Pay attention to your calories and you can eat pretty much anything. Adults should have an average of 2,000 calories a day.

Whoever told you that is a dumbass, milk fills you up and is healthy... it will actually help you lose weight. Getting a balanced diet of all food groups will help you keep the weight off instead of yo yo dieting, which is bad for your health.
