Overtime.
It is difficult to play such a physically challenging sport as soccer for such long periods of time lol. What if the game went on for a whole day without an end, like in Harry Potter's Quidditch? That may not seem plausible, but it certainly would be possible. I think it's only fair that each team knows how much time they have to score a goal rather than just seeing who scores first. In such a case, I can definitely see the match getting increasingly dirtier as each team must not only score/defend, they know that under no condition can they allow the other team to make a goal.

I prefer a penalty shootout which is much more interesting than a golden goal or overtime

Extra time certainly suits the system well; that offers both teams to score. Spot kicks can be altogether done away with u never know if a well deserved team wins 'coz its always a case of butterflies in the stomach. Even the professionals may falter.

i think the extra time is the better one bcoz it gives equal teams another chanse to win the match.But i think in the golden goal system the teams will concentrate mostly on defense bcoz one goal will end the whole match so extra time is better
