Its a little tough to do, but in general for embedded software running on 8 or 16 bit processors you usually code in C or even assembly. For higher end processors and computer applications it depends more on what kind of app you are doing than the environment so take your pick. HTML, JAVA tend to be used more for web pages (but not always), where C++, C# are used for other apps. there are other languages, but these are the ones I am familiar with and use.
