Not all friends are self centered. Just some. It's just the way they are. Be it the way they grew up, or their personality. I don't think you can change that.

If they are so self-centered that you feel the need to ask questions like this then maybe you should be asking yourself why you're friends with them.

Many reasons. Compitition, trying to get attention, or maybe its just their personality. Everyone is self centered once in a while.
