Often when the semen comes down into the urethra from the vas defrans it pushes back on the internal urethral sphincter, giving the sensation that the bladder is full, which is why he thinks he has to pee during intimate moments and afterwards. It is often hard to start urination after ejaculation because the internal urethral sphincter is tightly closed in order to keep semen from back washing up into the bladder. It does not open to let the urine out voluntarily, it is under reflex control that will not open for some time after ejaculation. You should let him know that most of the time the sensation of having to pee does not mean that he really does have to pee, it is a result of arousal and semen, so he should just ignore it until well afterwards.

There's a sensor which "turns off" the pee during sex so getting that started afterward can sometimes be difficult. My boyfriend does the same thing...

Ahhh... the intricasies of the prostate gland. It has an effect on urination even without sexual activity. Much more noticable as one gets older.

it' takes time for the ejaculation function to switch to urinating function...because the brain is getting the conflicting message...the erect penis is telling the brain be ready to ejaculate ..yet the bladder is telling the brain that it wants to pee...sort of communication traffic jam...until the brain reconfirm which want is priority...

BECAUSE THE VALVE IN YOUR SHAFT THAT CONNECTS TO YOUR BLADDER IS CLOSED SO THAT URINE DOESNT COME OUT DURING SEX. AND RIGHT AFTER SEX YOU NORMALLY DONT HAVE A SOFT ONE INSTANTLY SO THE VALVE IS STILL CLOSED SO IT TAKES TIME!
