If you live in San Francisco, the public library has major newspaper on file. Sometimes you can get the actual paper. However, many libraries have transferred their old newspapers and magazines into a digital database! So check out your library's website. You can probably look it up online and save you a trip to the library.

Try Google Scholar/San Francisco Chronicle/Mercury News and also check out the newspaper collection at your nearby San Francisco library - the librarians would be able to help you out with pointers even if that particular library doesn't stock it.
Also, if you really need it, you could go to the offices of the newspapers in San Francisco - they maintain archives.

Go to a library. They have these newspapers on file (some are electronic). You can search through them page by page if you like!
